This weekend I took the 12yo to a favourite local independent bookstores & got him some graphic novels & was very excited to find they had @chanda.blacksky.app Dr Chanda Prescod-Weinstein’s new book, ‘The Edge of Space-Time - Particles, Poetry, and the Cosmic Dream Boogie’! This never gets old: 🐡🧪
An open book with text and illustration on a pile of books in a bookstore.

The illustration is my linocut portrait of Chien-Shiung Wu and the Violation of Parity. The caption reads “Figure 14.3. This linocut by Ele Willoughby portrays an apparent mirror image of Chien-Shiung Wu. I say “apparent” because if you look closely the image of the circuit she’s holding has “N” and “S” flipped from top to bottom. Thus is a visual representation of how Wu’s experiment showed that parity symmetry was violated: Left and right are almost identical but not exactly.”This is a photo of ‘The Edge of Spacetime- Particles, Poetry, and the Cosmic Dream Boogie’ by Chanda Prescod-Weinstein on a tabletop. The cover is white, with illustration and black text with title, subtitle, author and “Los Angeles Times Book Prize-winning author of The Disordered Cosmos.” The illustration is black and white on the left and in colour on the right. The left side shows a black rectangle with concentric irregular curves alternating in black and white like a stylized half of Saturn with wobbly rings. The right side is a half circle in a gradient of pink, red, orange, yellow and green. It looks like a hall-sphere with a heat map indicating a hot pole at the top.
