People want credit for doing good things. If we ask, “if you could save the world but no one would ever know, would you?”, people might say, “no, I wouldn’t bother.” Likewise, they want to be seen as “good people” so they do the right thing, but if no one ever knows, they will do what benefits them.

As I said in the piece, our opposition is leveraging fear to push a ballot campaign that would undo our strong gun laws in MA. That is not what safety looks like. Fear may sell guns, but it doesn’t offer solutions to gun violence. It doesn’t keep our communities safe. Or our children.
