One reason trans folks feel adrift given Republican ads on trans people and Democrats going on defense is that unlike a lot of other “out groups,” they lack the political capital of other marginalized groups. There is not an advocacy group on the scale of the NAACP or the NOW for trans people

my wife has a friend who sent Dolly Parton a painting she made & a letter explaining how much Dolly's music meant to her while she was transitioning. One thing I notice though: every story I read about bike lanes tends to be illustrated with a photo of a white person in neon cycling gear and a helmet when a lot of the folks it actually helps are day laborers on cheap bikes and working folks on share bikes
