I'm looking forward to joining Saffron Walden Quakers for their book club - there'll be a chance to talk about the book first, and I'll join for the last half hour of the online session. Details on the poster/in alt text.
poster for Saffron Walden Quaker Meeting Library Book Club. In person Sunday 27th September 9.15-10.15am, online (Zoom) Monday 28th September 7-8:30pm. With author Q&A at the online gathering. Theme: Quaker Practices. Book: Quakers Do What! Why? by Rhiannon Grant. contact: librarianSWQM@gmail.comSaffron Walden Quaker Meeting Library
What's the point of Book Club?
To create an opportunity to explore and deepen your understanding of Quaker values, and social issues important to Quakers.
I'm not a Quaker, can I come?
Yes you do not have to be a Quaker, or attend Quaker Meeting, to come to the Book Club.
What if I haven't read/finished the book?
You do not have to have read the book to attend if you are interested in exploring the theme and/or have lived experience of it, that's enough.
What to expect?
The chance to share your thoughts and experiences, to hear other people's, and to leave with new insights and feeling inspired!
The Book Club is facilitated by Sophie the Librarian, and structured by a set of questions relating to the theme.

Sometimes it seems like the world doesn't know quite what to make of Quakers—and the movies are no exception. For decades, Friends were seen "thee"-ing and "thou"-ing across the screen, our spiritual beliefs reduced to a rejection of violence the modern world finds unrealistic. But that's changing.

Had a remarkable experience just after dawn this morning that began with a coyote loping ahead of me from the base of the hill, pausing often to look back, rodent or rabbit in its jaws, invisibly camouflaged against the dry grass except when it moved. 🧵
Coyote silhouetted in dim gray light on a rock on a steep incline. It’s looking down at its breakfast by its feet.
