Postdoc offer 2026 - National-scale modelling of lake warming and water-level dynamics under climate change

The project will combine in situ data (A), remote sensing (B), and modelling (C) to model the 1D lake thermal structure of at least 210 reservoirs (D), i.e., sites for which a proof of concept is available. The model outputs will then be analysed to assess reservoir responses to climate change and water level management practices at the national scale.Your future lunch view?

PEAK course: Toxic Cyanobacteria: Identification, Characterization and Communication 👉 Registration www.eawag.ch/de/info/agen...
An image of a cyanobacteria film on a lake with some boats anchored in the background. The film on the surface is blue-green and shimmering. Added to the image is the text PEAK consolidation-level course V63/26, Toxic Cyanobacteria: Identification, Characterization and CommunicationA slide with text that mentions the date of the event on the 29 June from 9am to 5pm that is taking place at Eawag in Dübendorf. Also written on it is the content of the course, which reads as follows: Cyanobacteria are ubiquitous in the environment and some of them produce potent liver and nerve toxins. When cyanobacteria rapidly multiply, their so-called blooming events can pose an acute threat to humans and animals. We differentiate between pelagic cyanobacteria proliferating in the free water column, and benthic cyanobacteria overgrowing sediment surfaces at lake shores, ponds and rivers. This course offers an overview of the latest advances and current challenges in identification (field observations), characterization (morphology, gene marker, chemical toxin analysis) and communication of the specific risks of pelagic and benthic cyanobacteria.
