Critical Thinking
I can recognize common thinking errors and explain how they drive decisions.

The test
Watch a full season of Survivor: Cagayan and document the reasoning errors and biases behind the players' decisions, explaining how each one shaped the outcome. An AI grader reviews your work, and you need 90% or higher.

Perhaps it’s been everywhere, but I had not heard the phrase ‘the caring majority’ used before, and it captures something profoundly important. It is a concept that can ground a genuinely new kind of politics.

1. A new NHS England Review excluded 97% of all trans care studies to conclude that trans youth care doesn't work. It explicitly violates several guidelines around reviewing literature, and appears to be politics masquerading as (shoddy) science. Subscribe to support our journalism.

"Today’s OBR projections reveal two competing realities in government right now. The OBR and Treasury forecast an upturn in net migration, which makes their fiscal numbers add up – while the Home Office says it is determined to drive net migration down still further. They can’t have it both ways".

Breaking
The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR)'s forecast of the state of the UK's economy has just been published.

We're poring over the document now, external - and will bring you the key lines here.

The OBR is the unaccountable watchdog that analyses the state of the country's finances to ensure austerity persists.

Plenty of infuriating things in any OBR forecast, but why are we jumping from fractions to decimals in the same paragraph?
Nominal weekly wage growth is forecast to slow to around 3½ per cent in 2026 and then
average 2¼ per cent a year, broadly in line with the November forecast. This reflects the
expected continued loosening in labour market conditions, lower inflation, and the gradual
pass-through of more of last year’s rise in employer National Insurance contributions. In
real terms, weekly pay growth has slowed from 2.5 per cent in 2024 to below 1 per cent in
late 2025. In the medium term, we assume real hourly earnings growth will be below
productivity growth at around ½ a per cent a year as firms rebuild their rate of return on
capital, which has been relatively low in recent years. A key uncertainty for the outlook is the
extent to which firms manage cost pressures – including from minimum wage increases and
tax and regulatory changes.

"How are you going to pay for it?" is always tiring, but especially in the case of debt forgiveness for a generation of younger people with barely any disposable income. That money is immediately going back into growing the economy. That's how this works.

When Green party critics call our thoroughly researched policies that are often worked through for years "simplistic" "undeliverable" etc, they are never specific about which policies or why. That's because it would reveal that what they really mean is "our donors don't like them"

For the overwhelming majority of people who practice it, sports is not about competition. It's about social belonging. Once you understand that, the reason why transphobes want to ban trans women from it even outside of competition and even in disciplines like darts is pretty obvious.

it's such a classic pseudo-journalistic hustle: accurately but selectively quote from a report you don't cite or link to, and misleadingly characterize, and in this way, produce the story you want while not TECHNICALLY lying, but making anyone who reads you actually less informed about reality

A political movement driven by reasonable concerns about sports and medicine would have no problem admitting that trans people face discrimination. The fact that "gender criticals" constantly deny basic realities is sign 1,087 that they are in fact driven by bigotry.
