All new houses should be built wth doors and passageways wide enough for wheelchairs. Anyone can end up needing one, whether temporarily or permanently.

On this day in 1994, the Clinton administration's heathcare reform plan was declared "dead" by Congress. Over 30 years later, the US is still the only industrialized country without universal healthcare. This should be a national outrage.

Jerry & Margot voted Remain. Him because he worked for a firm that imported and exported and he actually understood their business, and her because "I simply have never been able to stand any man called Nigel." Tom was Lexit. Barbara voted Remain but told Tom she voted Leave.

The whole "they died for our future" line that gets spouted about WW1 soldiers is nothing but a comforting lie. They died because the ruling classes had grievances and saw the public as expendable. They probably still do.

The Voyager photo of Earth and Carl Sagan's pale blue dot speech should be rammed down the throat of every single person on this planet until we, as a species, finally understand our place in the universe.

Cars should be painted in colours again. It's so depressing to see the roads filled with just black, white, grey and silver vehicles. Bring back that 1970s palette.

The NHS was founded 78 years ago today. It was built after the devastation of the Second World War when the country was bankrupt - but when the people demanded a society built on fairness and dignity for all. Today, we must defend the right to healthcare and rebuild our social security system.

It's unfair to say that tobacco companies, fossil fuel investment vehicles, crypto billionaires and Russian oligarchs can't be altruistic. Look at the millions they give to Nigel Farage, out of pure kindness, expecting nothing in return.

Farage claims the BBC are putting him "in danger" by pursuing his £5M crypto bribe. They must have done something really reckless, then, like calling for "cold, hard rage" from the public in response to it.

Reform have now lost six by-elections in a row in England, Scotland and Wales. Their national poll rating is 26% – below Labour in 1983 – and Farage’s approval rating is -37. They’re very far from the voice of the people and need to stop being treated as such.

The coffee machines of contemporary times are a touch noisy and somewhat unsuited to the desired calm of a coffee shop. One wonders if the coffee might be arranged more quietly.

If the Farage bung really was for security, why did he get his lifetime's supply as a massive interest-accumulating lump sum? Why didn't the briber - sorry - benefactor come to an arrangement whereby he said "OK, get whatever security you need - weekly, monthly, yearly, you choose - and invoice me"?

BBC News covering Farage rally launch of Reform local election campaign in Sunderland. live uninterrupted coverage and lots and lots of bigging up from the commentary. ‘Other parties have to launch in the mornings’… what ??? Reform has 10 councils. LibDems control or lead in 89. Where’s the context?

I find it mind-boggling that Keir Starmer is seen as just as unpopular as Liz Truss. I'm no fan of him particularly, but being a bit boring is nowhere near as being as absolutely batshit as Truss was.

At the time of writing, there were five political parties between 10-25% in a Westminster voting intention poll. FPTP is dead; and if Starmer doesn't want to be the one responsible for Reform getting >50% of MPs with <30% of votes, he has to call a referendum on PR voting.
