So elex out the way & we now firmly live in a multiparty set up. Not much diff between 26-18-16. Let’s keep the media in check from reversing to binaries. UK media needs to learn from Scotland. It’s not about dominance. It’s about parties collaborating maturely. Libs&greens big winners in Holyrood

Sadly the media obsession with reform continues … Laura K constantly referencing Farage’s smiling face yesterday on the captions even tho Ed Davey was also smiling in second place for most of the day. She had to keep referencing NF

I think the big Sunday political programmes have already written the story for May 7th. It’s very clear they’re wanting to portray a simplistic left v right binary. Not much real balance on either of them this morning. Reform v Green was the basic story. We’re being heavily manipulated yet again

So with only a few days left before the English local elections and parliamentary elex in Scotland & wales, how happy are we with the build up coverage. Do you, like me, feel that the story for Friday was written months ago in the world of self fulfilling prophecies? So so predictable.

Hey all, now we’re in purdah - which means the broadcasters HAVE to give (by law) coverage to all the parties with significant numbers contesting the local elections in England and the Scottish & Welsh Parliament elections. Let us know what you perceive because they’ll still find ways to spin.

The centre win in Hungary defeating the far right. I bet the centrist win will not be focussed on in the uk broadcast media.

Elex Maps latest Nowcast. FPTP is about seats stupid, not votes. We often see headline voting intentions which give a false idea of real battle. As you can see some parties are better at turning votes into seats than others. Focussing on headline polls won’t return what you’re hoping or expecting
Stats showing reform likely to have most seats - 283 and LibDems as official opposition on 84 A map showing potential colours after 2029

BBC News covering Farage rally launch of Reform local election campaign in Sunderland. live uninterrupted coverage and lots and lots of bigging up from the commentary. ‘Other parties have to launch in the mornings’… what ??? Reform has 10 councils. LibDems control or lead in 89. Where’s the context?

QT tonight has 5 parties represented. Labour, Conservative, LibDems, Greens & Reform. It’s a rare thing to have so many. Maybe complaints are working?! But I’ve seen this before. Sudden burst of representation & then back to the old ways. But pressure does get through gradually - keep it up folks!

In the networks’ assessment of coverage, they say they take into account past & current support, seats, vote share & legitimate opinion polling. I can’t remember the LibDems having any upturn in airtime after their historic result in July 24 can anyone else? Yet reform had lots when they had 0 seats

Reform getting coverage for policy announcements this morn. Where was the analysis of the LibDem Spring Conf? Libs have 72 MPs, reform 8. Libs control or lead around 80 councils with 3200 councillors, reform -10 councils. Platforming like this 7 wks ahead of ukwide elections feels like propaganda.

So complained to BBC about doing a whole story about REFORM announcing its front bench (front bench in a party of 8?!) and asked when we would hear a story announcing the front bench of the LibDems, or the SNP cabinet or who holds what portfolio for the Greens at Westminster. They refused to answer!

LibDems are meeting for their spring conference in York with some major policy announcements on right to jury trials, the independence of the BBC, Trump, Iran etc. now will our 3rd largest party at Westminster see any coverage? Yet the broadcasters now take every weekly reform press conference live.

While a lot of emphasis is placed by the broadcasters on the polls in assessing how much coverage they give the different parties, little is focused on seat numbers which is bizarre when you think FPTP (whether we like it or not) is all about seats not votes. This is the latest seat projection.
A graph showing each party seat numbers predicted by latest poll - reform 319, LibDems 82, Labour 63, Green 55, cons 50, snp 44, plaid 13, others 5

Sorry been quiet for ages due to illness. The coverage thing is still an issue. Greens might have had a boost but I wonder if there’s an agenda to shape things as far right v far left, setting greens up as geeky & far left (which they’re not). Still the Libs get NO regular coverage despite 72 MPs

Lab supporters seem upset we haven’t made it clear 63 voted against Farage yesterday. So happy to clarify that. BUT the vast maj of Lab MPs DIDN’T vote inc the frontbench. It wouldn’t have changed the law on EHCR but LibDems, SNP, Plaid, Greens, Alliance etc clearly felt it mattered to defeat Farage
