interesting to me that as the administration treats democratic-voting states like conquered or occupied territories, you don’t have pundits demanding the president respect “half the country”

Trump and his supporters continue to push re-runs of their greatest hits from the 2020 Big Lie. "Ballot drops" are a normal part of the counting process. They only look suspicious b/c people want to believe they are... and everything looks like a conspiracy when you don't know how anything works.

Americans will continue to believe that politics is akin to a game show they watch/participate in on social media until the pain of their dumb choices is so great and immediate that they’re shocked back into reality. We’re in an “America will not wake save for the roar of bombs” type situation.

This something I want people to understand. If you don’t get their names, they’re just gone. There’s no arrest record and the snatch-and-grabs can last seconds. People simply disappear and we can’t find out who they are or what happened to them.

"The Court finds it inconceivable that the Department of Justice, which holds a duty to faithfully execute the laws of the United States—even those with which it may have disagreement—would repeatedly ignore court orders, while simultaneously prosecuting citizens for breaking the law."
Rather stunningly, Ms. Halligan fails to even mention Chief Judge Diaz’s Order, let alone
discuss its impact here. In short, Ms. Halligan has not only ignored Judge Currie’s rulings, she
has also turned a blind eye to an Order from the Chief Judge of the Fourth Circuit. The Court
finds it inconceivable that the Department of Justice, which holds a duty to faithfully execute the
laws of the United States even those with which it may have disagreement would
repeatedly ignore court orders, while simultaneously prosecuting citizens for breaking the law.
In the wise words of Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson III of the Court of Appeals for the Fourth
Circuit, “[w]e yet cling to the hope that it is not naive to believe our good brethren in the
Executive Branch perceive the rule of law as vital to the American ethos.” Abrego Garcia v.
Noem,'^o. 25-1404, 2025 WL 1135112, at *3 (4th Cir. Apr. 17, 2025).

It started with one party controlling the media & the message, defining truth, censoring speech & silencing opposition, dividing citizens into 'us' & 'them' & calling on their supporters to harass them. It started when good people turned a blind eye & let it happen

Willem Dafoe speaking truth in this interview with @mattzollerseitz.bsky.social www.vulture.com/article/will...
question: I feel like the relationship of the audience to movies has changed in the past ten or 15 years. They expect the movie to come to them.

answer: Absolutely. They’d rather go home and turn on their TV and see a film that way. And let’s face it, a certain kind of corruption comes in because people go home and they shop around on these streaming platforms. There’s some good things about the platforms. They create a lot of movies. They create a lot of jobs. But there’s so many distractions that you can’t enter the stuff. People watch five minutes of something and they say, “I’m not really into it” and they go to another thing. “I’m not really into it.” Then another thing. “I’m not really into it.” Then they go to bed.

If you don’t put in the effort, you’re not going to receive much. And the discourse gets lowered, and everything gets a little more dumbed down and then that’s when the ruffians come in, and they’re the ones with energy and stupidity and then they can crush all the thoughtful people. That’s not good for culture, and that’s not good for humanity. We see the results of that all the time.
