I have found #TramsAndGrass in Manchester! At the Deansgate-Castlefield stop. Not much of it, but good to see all the same.
A yellow Bee Network tram at a stop where the rails run through a surface in which trays of grass have been set, the effect being that the tram track is running across something approximating to a linear lawn.See photo 1See photo 1See photo 1

Here was a large sign announcing the future, temporary closure of a footway, and apologising for that inconvenience. Yet the sign was plonked in the middle of said footway, reducing its width by about half and presenting a hazard to people who’d have a perfect right not expect it there. #Sigh

I happened to be in Orleans, France, a couple of weeks ago, and it took me a while to realise that the city’s bike share vehicles are designed with a passenger seat. Not only civilised, but it means two can travel for the price of one.
One of Orleans’ fleet of 650 e-assist hire bikes available through its FlexO service. There’s a passenger seat above the rear wheel as well as footrests.

My Half Marathon Walk to Work begins at Seven Kings station in East London. It does so because of this photo, taken outside the station by a colleague in 2012: a large group of school students crossing at a junction with… …no crossing. I hope that’s changed. #WalkOut @livingstreets.bsky.social

Not by any means a hot take, but one manifestation of car dependency is the clamour, in the face of fossil fuel price rises, for lower fuel duties. A more rational clamour would be for rapidly and substantially reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.
