Played through this earlier this year! Like the other poster says, the opening is undefeated. I'm also extremely glad that the team added a more open/systemic campaign... there are so many novel interacting mechanics in there that really begged for letting the player settle in and internalize them.

Anyway: yeah! lots of stuff out there now that looks & plays better than the original campaigns. 30 years of collective experience does win out. :-) Also you'll still see folks take a while to ramp up on the non-aesthetics like routing and encounter design.

It's common for newbie-mapper output to surpass the look of the originals. It's an interestingly higher bar IMO for it to play better than E1M1. Romero etc. were feeling their way, w/ hostile tools+constraints, but also they had loads of experience making games. That does shine thru in spots.

I'm 100% on board with your enthusiasm about modern Quake community output, so not arguing here, just adding an observation:

Quick followup: yeah, Bitwarden good, switching to that. A nice thing: 1Password allows read-only access to your online vault there even without subscription. Good backstop in case of issues. An annoyance: "created on" and "last edited" timestamps on items get reset by the export/import process.

All good so far after a few days. Bitwarden seems really nice! Honestly the app+extension are at least as polished+featureful as 1Password's at first glance. Does anyone know of gotchas I should look out for? I'll report back later if I run into anything.

My needs are desktop apps and SSH key agent support for Linux/macOS, Firefox integration on Linux/macOS/Android, some support for family sharing and emergency access, and of course import of all my stuff from 1Password. Doing a trial of Bitwarden now.

I can't do anything about a lot of that, but I can do something about this. I've been a paying 1Password customer, mostly happy, since 2011 but it's time to stop that.

Wow was that really the only way to process those old files? Props on seeing things through. I understand the impulse ... last year I set up IRIX+MAME just to identify an old game: bsky.app/profile/joel... (For me at least, that had a nostalgia bonus in reminding me of my time using an SGI Indy.)

Also it sounds like they could use some support at the moment! What I'm saying is... Keeper is one of the most visually/aurally beautiful games out there. It's not the one you get if you're looking for a challenge, but it is a trip and a half just as an experience.

RIP to the incomparable Sam Neill
How long has it been since you've seen the original "Jurassic Park"?

SAM NEILL The last time I watched it in its totality was sitting beside Princess Di at Leicester Square at the London opening.
On the other side of me was my son Tim - he was 11 and completely swept away by it, but about the time the T-Rex turns up, Tim started to fart. And the draft was drifting across me to royalty! I spent the whole film in a muck sweat, thinking, "Princess Di is being exposed to the horrors of a little boy's fart, but she's going to think it's me. I am going to be subliminally blamed for my son's crimes, and I don't think she'll talk to me afterwards." But she was well brought up and never mentioned it.
JEFF GOLDBLUM I love that story, Sam.
I've heard him tell that a couple of times, and it's just amazing the lengths that he will go to still blame the boy.

I'm digging this a lot for when I need something fizzy and high-energy in my ears. Also big thumbs up to the "cover art" here too! Fits as a possible setting for the music. I don't often think about art pairing for digital tracks. The written copy about it on the Bandcamp page is a nice read.

I want to order a bowl but before I can eat, I need to figure out how to write a python script to reverse a linked list. Can you help?
Anonymous User | 13:20:18
Great question! To reverse a linked list in Python, you can use an iterative approach.
Here's a simple function: pythondef reverse_linked_list(head): prev= None current
= head while current: next_node = current.next
current.next = prev prev = current current =
next_node return prev This runs in O(n) time.
Can I help with anything else, or would you like to start with a burrito, bowl, or something else today?

I thought it would be a pretty abstract environment to digest, especially as an introduction to FPS. But the 5yo just had to watch a few minutes of play to inform me that I was in a "battle hotel". So that's my new Quake map euphemism. Bring me the battle hotels y'all.

Elon Musk is betting that AI’s future lies not on Earth, but in orbit — a claim he has put at the centre of his $1.25tn plan to merge SpaceX with his lossmaking start-up xAI.

The tech billionaire, who aims to launch an initial public offering for the newly combined company this year, argues that vast fleets of satellites powered by solar energy and cooled by the vacuum of space will become the cheapest way to generate AI computing power. Musk believes this will happen within the next three years.
