I live in Leicester. It's just over an hour on the train to London. Yay! Except if I want to go to London for an event that starts at 9:30am and return in time to see my kids before bed it's… £209. For a 1 hour 8 min train return ticket. UK train companies are taking the piss.

Very curious to try it on an actual hardware device but at least in the simulator Hour by Hour is feeling pretty cool on iPhone Duo!

Today is the ten year anniversary of the completion of the Sorcery! series! What began as a pitch for a "Discworld companion app" to a publisher grew - thanks to Steve Jackson's trust! - into a massive, sprawling, open-world interactive fiction adventure. If you came for the ride - thank you!

One thing that surprises me about SwiftUI is that the animation and transition system wasn't designed from the ground up to support 1:1 gestures: for example an animation that slides a widget from X=50 to X=100 could provide a built-in way to drag is gradually from one side to the other.

We optimized draw calls by 99% (lol) in Hidden Folks 2 by writing some tools to find all textures used in a level, generate a level-specific atlas, and replace individual texture references with atlas textures. Thread below 🧵👇🏼 #godotengine
Two side-by-side screenshots showing before and after we applied a texture atlas optimization to our game Hidden Folks two, the before showing 13318 draw calls and the after showing 113 draw calls

I'd already prepped this in anticipation of the iPhone Duo announcement, guess the work won't go to waste 😃 interested to see how easy it'll be to adopt the new vertical toolbar

I don't feel like I use Bluesky and Mastodon anymore, I just use Blastodon. Moosky. Mastosky. Blueskdon. Yeah, good thing they called it Indigo.

I used to absolutely love Sketch for vector drawing and UI, but recently I've become frustrated with it as it's piled on features and redesigned the interface. I used to be proud that I was using the native indie Mac app, but starting to wonder whether to consider the enemy… Figma 😕

to really understand the absurdity of metacritic, imagine rating all foods in a similar way. or what about a metacritic for clothes? sports and exercise? language? who do we as game devs tolerate that place.

Super excited to have been the very first sponsor of Designed in California from @myke.social and @snell.zone! And just heard my very first podcast ad read 😍 The history of Apple is very much my cup of tea, and you couldn't hope for a better podcasting pair to tell it. Highly recommended!

Designed in California - Relay
Expertly-told stories about the 50-year history of Apple and the world it created, from Jason Snell and Myke Hurley. We cover the entire range of the last half-century, from Apple's earliest days in a garage, to the rise of the Mac, to the return of Steve Jobs and the creation of some of Apple's most iconic products. Apple's history is also our shared tech history, and these are all stories worth telling.

I love this little drum machine! Anyone know if there's something similar as an app, ideally also with a little bit of synth/melody capability too? I love its overall simplicity and accessibility but it leaves me wanting more! Also the latency is slightly annoying benjaminmullins.tv/808/

Did you know? The 2026 detective game "TR-49" has been described as using a Wikipedia rabbit hole as a gameplay mechanic. But nothing rivals the original experience of going down a wiki walk ➡️ w.wiki/5GU

Hour by Hour hasn't been *wildly* popular thus far, making it feel all the better when I get a nice review on the App Store ❤️ The people who discover it seem to love it! hour-by-hour.app

@gruber.foo while I do love your self-exemplifying dickover definition, it's ironically an actually useful modal that explains something that is relevant to the content of the page and even fits the reading sequences well. So actually the least bad dickover ever made??? Nooooo

I've been perfectly happy with C# so far, but a part of me is jealous of the cool things GDScript allows. And there's just slightly too much friction between the two languages to make a mix of both feel really ergonomic and convenient unfortunately.

Feels like such an indictment of AirDrop that Blip works so much better that people would even bother using a 3rd party utility instead (if you haven't heard of it, it's really really good and fast )

it is difficult to be a caretaker and entrepreneur. i do it because it’s all i know how to do. because it’s the only way i know forward. because the alternative, giving up, is devastating. there’s periods of pure surviving, and there’s slightly better days, but it’s never the freedom from before.

Just spent a couple of hours with Affinity to do some logo work for our next inkle thing and… yeah it's pretty damn good! Still need to try it for bitmap / Photoshop style work, but I'm impressed. And I like the way they've rolled Photoshop / Illustrator / InDesign tools into one app.
