It's important to recognise is that this *isn't* about the US getting "back" to business with Russia, because there's never been much US-Russia business of any kind beyond arms control. What the Trump admin is pushing for is an unprecedented alignment of the US with Russia.

Or an alternate possibility is that as with every previous supposed breakthrough between Russia and the US it eventually falls apart due to Trump's mush-brained ineptitude and binds Russia closely to a US President who is reaching Yeltsin levels of unpopularity among Americans

Zelensky on today's Trump–Putin diesel deal: “I think they [the Trump admin] are just using our team as a front. And that’s definitely dishonest, definitely not how partners should treat each other. And in my view, it’s a weak decision. Unfortunately, it’s a weak decision by strong partners."

Once we are done with the ICC, we will be livestreaming the execution of Ukraine and paying Russia so that gas prices go down. It's crucial to buy from Russia so it could give more to Iran to target US troops when we restart the war, for which we need the gas prices go down. Stable genius.

Waking to another Trump outrage as he bails out his pal in the Kremlin by buying his diesel oil just in time for a winter offensive against Ukraine. This just weeks after tough new sanctions on anyone who buys Russian oil. But for the Times this llatest betrayal is not big news, just fifth story

Exactly. Trump is a willing participant, with his recent suggestion that Ukraine’s strikes on RU refineries were to blame for diesel prices, not his own idiotic war against Iran.

Traitor.
Donald J. Trump I @reaDonald Trump
I have just concluded a highly successful discussion with President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, wherein it was agreed that Russia will immediately supply over 300,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel to the American and Global Marketplace, another 500,000 Tons during the month of November, and 1,000,000 Tons immediately thereafter. Additionally, based on the condition of their Diesel Refineries, Russia will then deliver, within a short period of time, 3,000,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel. Between our TOTAL CONTROL of the Strait of Hormuz, and this great announcement on Russian Energy, Diesel Prices for Americans and, indeed, the World, will be COMING DOWN, IN RECORD NUMBERS, AND FAST! Lower prices for Americans, especially our Great Farmers, Ranchers, and Truckers, is my Greatest Priority. This is a very big and important announcement. Additionally, it must be understood, that Iran will not have a Nuclear Weapon! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP

As was entirely predictable, in the absence of full support for Ukraine from the West, the war is intensifying and getting closer to the EU border. The West's response should be to increase aid to democratic Ukraine to help it fight back against and then defeat fascist Russia.

Steel once made up 15% of Ukraine's exports.
