From Cornell To Trump: Stop Asking Why Powerful Men Keep Getting Away With Rape
Cornell is only the latest reminder of America’s long-running history of worrying more about what sexual violence will do to the powerful men committing it than the women they’re harming.

The only thing else I'm gonna post about the Cornell 7 is that anyone who has ever met me and asked me about Cornell heard me say that fraternities there are quality of life problem for Ithaca. They are entitled, aggressive, and as far as I can tell, commit most of the crime in Ithaca.

Conor is the same guy who wanted everyone to see the good in Jeffrey Toobin after he was caught masturbating during a work call. Friedersdorf's shtick is to find the worst people and insist we cannot take them at face value for what they say and do. So of course they're always making Conor look bad.

seeing a lot of discussion about this and like: the reason the poster did a screenshot with no link is that if you actually search for the article you'd learn that this bill 1) has nothing to do with Zohran Mamdani 2) was introduced in committee back in May and didn't go anywhere

Rove wanted to rig democracy to create a permanent Republican majority on the basis of plutocracy and white Christian nationalism. Now he is complaining that extremists are using his party - a neo-Confederate institution since the Dixiecrats defected to them in the 60s - to push a racialist agenda.

Transactional politics are weak. Authoritarians love transactional politics because it allows them to avoid a commitments. Instead, they can focus on enriching themselves and staying entrenched in power. It leaves them vulnerable to each other and without any lasting basis for bilateral ties.

Another bunny, a fishing buddy, as suffered the same fate, and is climbing out of the water having not let go of their fishing line and been pulled in. "It ignored blocks that said 'no'" is how you'd describe a scraper accessing a public website that has a "no bots" file—not how you'd describe unauthorized access to private systems. This careful wording makes me nothing real actually happened.
"There were blocks clearly which were coming back telling the AI agent 'no'. The AI agent found a way around those blocks – didn't accept no for an answer," Albanese told reporters.

Rumors about “rigged elections" are now a fixture of U.S. elections, leading to diminished trust in election results & democracy (broadly). These rumors can sometimes be hard to debunk, esp. in their early stages. Our UW team has identified the 6 common ways that election integrity rumors mislead:
Infographic titled "Six Ways 'Rigged Election' Rumors Mislead." A two-column table pairs six labeled categories with descriptions. The first three categories are:

No Evidence: The rumor is entirely unsubstantiated. There's no evidence to support the rumor.

Fake/False Evidence: The rumor is based on fake or synthetic evidence (e.g. AI-generated content), manipulated evidence, or false witness testimony.

Misinterpreted Evidence: This rumor is based upon real evidence that has been misinterpreted or intentionally mischaracterized to create a false impression.

A black banner then introduces the final three categories: "Real Evidence, Real Voting Issue, False Narrative."

Exaggerated Impact: The rumor centers on a real issue with voting but falsely insinuates or exaggerates impact on election results.

Ignored Remedies: The rumor centers on a real issue with voting but ignores and/or obscures the remedies that would address this problem

False Blame: The rumor centers on a real issue with voting but either falsely attributes intent for an accidental issue or places blame on an innocent party.
