I carved a pumpkin today! I also did it while sitting in the sun and wearing a bat necklace, so now I have a bat-outline sunburn.
A classic Jack-o-lantern with a smile shaped like a bat.A woman with green hair and a sunburn on her chest that you can maybe see a bat outline in if you squint.

There are things around my house that need fixing that will require hundreds or thousands of dollars to fix. Things I have to live with while I struggle to save. But sometimes I forget there are things that I can fix with $20 or less. And yeah, I'm not quite in 'casually drop $20' territory, but...

At the point where I've made not one, but two recipes I don't like, but groceries are expensive and I don't want to waste anything, but I'm also having a hard time choking them down. My impulse is to try to "fix" them, but I'm worried I'll just end up with 3x the volume of food that I don't like.

If I had the money, I would have so many instruments. I'd probably never be good at playing hammered dulcimer, hurdy gurdy, tagelharpa, lyre, great harp, piano, hand pan, or clarinet. But it would be cool to theoretically have the possibility.

Brian Eno on crafting the Windows 95 start up sound. This is never far from my thoughts.
"The thing from the agency said, 'We want a piece of music that is inspiring, universal, blah-blah, da-da-da, optimistic, futuristic, sentimental, emotional,' this whole list of adjectives, and then at the bottom it said 'and it must be 3.25 seconds long.'
"I thought this was so funny and an amazing thought to actually try to make a little piece of music. It's like making a tiny little jewel."
Eno soon became obsessed by this task, creating 84 different pieces of music - the other 83 of which I'd love to see the light of day at some point.
"I got completely into this world of tiny, tiny little pieces of music", he continued. "I was so sensitive to microseconds at the end of this that it really broke a logjam in my own work. Then when I'd finished that and I went back to working with pieces that were like three minutes long, it seemed like oceans of time."

one day, you might realize that suffering is pointless.
Suffering did not make you better. It just harmed you. It slowed you down from achieving your goals.
Suffering even prevented you from doing things that were jmportant.
There was no noble tradeoff for suffering. The point of suffering is that it is pointless.

An aside: If you keep a (to steal the Mormon term) provident pantry (3-12 months of food storage) make sure you do keep salt (it never goes bad, just keep it dry) and make sure some of it is iodized. Get in the habit of keeping both bread/pickle (non-iodized) and table/stovetop (iodized) dispensers.
