another thing i think is interesting is that the overwhelming majority of people who think llms are interesting buy into the fantasy of things it can never do or be, instead of appreciating llms for what is real about them. bc they *are* interesting! and will never be conscious.

@invoxiplaygames.uk, whenever I see your Discord credential theft PSAs, this thread is a lot of what I think of. I can think of ways, but getting Discord to play nice with them while still being user-friendly...feels overconstrained. Thought you might be interested in the thread, at least.

In typical Windows fashion it's more than that and all the gooey bits are hidden for simplicity. There are multiple dimensions to the Credential Manager. 1. How do we protect the credentials? 2. Who uses the credentials? 3. Can I roam the credentials? Hot topics today, but we had it in XP!

When you hear a politician talking about saving small farms, just know that they do *not* mean the market gardener selling zucchini and corn at their roadside stand every Saturday. They mean a guy who inherited 500 acres and pays other people to work the land while he goes on hunting trips.

Heck yeah.
Human-made over 5 years

No AI has been used to generate any code or content in or about the game, and never will be. Slow Roads has been a labour of love since the project began in 2021, and has been built with a decade of experience in 3D graphics and creative software development. Textures are hand-drawn, sounds are recorded locally, and all systems are designed and engineered specifically for the unique context of the game. This is a solo-developed project that I take great care over, and I believe AI simply doesn't belong in creative projects like these.

Please note that procedural generation is not a form of generative AI; the procedures used to generate the world in the game are mathematical functions that have been derived and defined by hand, with direct creative intent.

A panel from Phantomarine. Cheth and Cheline look down on the Raven, who stands reverently between them. Cheline looks angry. Cheth looks wide-eyed but more neutral. Other acolytes look on, including the Canary.

The answer he gives, "to not stand out negatively from my friends," shrug? As a medical procedure, I knew a kid who had had polio and one leg was 6" shorter than another and paralyzed, so leg-lengthening made walking and balancing much, much easier. (See also gender-affirming care.)

The DOJ is intentionally drawing attention to this incident of mail dumping to sow distrust in mail-in voting, suppress votes, & motivate changes to the law to make it harder to vote. If you're amplifying and feeding that frame, even from the other side, you're a pawn in their information operation.

I've spent a lot of years studying a lot of collapses, and the truth of the matter is that they're always mundane: mild climatic shifts that reduce crop yields, a dumbass in power who makes some terrible decisions, neglecting things that obviously matter but the will to fix them can't be summoned.
