What did we make of @eddavey.libdems.org.uk announcement? I think it was incredibly positive, and what we needed right now to inject some much-needed social liberalism into the current political landscape!

Welsh Young Liberals are active in Swansea University today, with Swansea and Gower Senedd candidate Sam Bennett, a bright young man who has the area's best interests at heart and believes that people must be put at the heart of our #liberalism.
Two men stand behind a table, covered with a yellow and black tablecloth, petitions, and Welsh Liberal Democrat/Welsh Young Liberal stickers. The man on the left wears a tartan-patterned hoodie, and the man on the right wears a green long-sleeve t-shirt. Both men are wearing jeans.

The Welsh Young Liberals are canvassing at Swansea University. The man on the right is the Senedd candidate, Sam Bennett, while the man on the left is his campaign manager, Hayden Lewis.

And it’s also because many, many people have never educated themselves on Judaism, antisemitism, and *especially* Israel and its history and its relationship to the Jewish diaspora—and have heard a few talking points, decided they’re experts, and are play-acting their values.

It’s unfortunately because these events are reinforcing pre-existing antisemitic beliefs they already had about Jews. So refusing to separate Israel and Judaism is a shield for finally being open about their true beliefs. That Jews are evil. And now they can say it out loud and society will clap.

I keep trying to tell people - antisemitism is such a long running culture of bigotry that no one has a chance of avoiding poisoning by it just by their own cleverness. You can either seek out education and open your ears to Jewish folks or you will end up parroting that stuff unknowingly, at best

Imagine seeing British people at prayer and thinking “this is a great chance to stoke fear, hatred and division”. People who do that should have no place in British politics. Freedom to worship is a fundamental British value – one the Conservative Party used to believe in.
