Musical theater even at the community level is hardcore. The kiddo had a successful first show in Shrek and is now a lead supporting in Freaky Friday! She’s playing Fletcher Blake. She has a 30 second singing solo and has a ton of lines. It’s awesome when your kid finds their “thing”!

This morning at Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HQ in DC as mandatory return to office began, this video played on loop for ~5 mins on screens throughout the building, per agency source. Building staff couldn’t figure out how to turn it off so sent people to every floor to unplug TVs.

It’s so depressing to see how underfunded the art/creative programs are for kids in this area. The theatre the kids perform at is even rented and they don’t get to even step on stage until the actual performance. Any tips on soliciting local businesses for sponsorships and/or donations?

It’s the first day in weeks I haven’t had to run errands, have a field trip, go to rehearsals, libraries, and as an introvert that battles with burn out after one outing, it felt great. I honestly miss the days where we never left the house because of Covid.

I have a new level of respect for the musical theater kids/families. We have rehearsals 4 times a week, 2 hours each day. Some of these kids have multiple shows they’re rehearsing for locally, dance classes, vocal classes, etc. Even though she’s tired, she’s still excited and in disbelief!

The kiddo had her first ever audition this weekend for a a local musical theater production of Shrek the Musical, Jr. and a LOT of kids auditioned and she got casted! We’re so so proud of her and her/my schedule is going to be packed with 8-10 hours of rehearsals per week and 3 show days! 🎭

Not gonna lie, I’m pretty proud of my infectious disease containment procedures. It’s day 5 of mitigating any further flu spread. Minimized contact,still managed care. Masks work. Quarantines work. I don’t have the time or patience to get sick. Still making him stay in one section for 2 more days.

Have been seeing more people sick with influenza (and this is sick to the point they’re seeking emergency medical care) than I have since this time in 2019. Nobody likes to hear it but the one thing that would most reliably make their symptoms better is going back in time and getting a flu shot. 🤷‍♂️

A sad side effect of tirzepatide for me is the lack of enthusiasm for holiday sweets. Everything is okay in moderation. Obviously a cookie here and there isn’t going to stop progress but even the smell disinterests me. Baking has been a tradition for the kiddo and I but this year is different. 🫤

Not going to lie, I’m stockpiling tirzepatide with the FDA cracking down. I checked in with my provider and they did a body comp analysis scan, I gained one whole pound of muscle with a 14 pound body weight loss in 48 days. I have no doubts they’re coming for the powdered tirz too.
