He also tried to argue that should just fix fare evasion instead of passing the STM renewal, saying that KCM loses $20M~$30M a year from it. That's paltry compared to the $138M annual revenue the expanded STM would bring, even when ignoring any costs that would come with fare enforcement.

That might explain why the paint for the bus lanes smelled so horrendously bad...

Last night we celebrated the opening of our new dedicated bus lane for the 8 bus on Denny by doing the obvious thing: racing it again. Last summer, Seattleites raced the bus on foot and beat it. This time around, with the lane up and running, it wasn’t even close.

The most impressive impact of bus lanes to me is that the difference between the fastest and slowest bus along Denny went from 10 minutes to less than one minute. You can plan around a slow bus but you can't really plan around an unpredictable one. Luckily Route 8 is neither of those things now.

We have a lot of things in Seattle that have been in planning for two decades. The Denny bus lanes were not one of them. Before January they were deemed impossible, and were planned and executed in eight months.

My uninformed theoretical analysis of this: Anodes should gently disperse electricity along its length, but the lake bed is a bad conductor. Anodes laying against it then causes voltage to build up, zapping fish in the area. ST raised the rods slightly off the lake bed already which should fix it

We’re delivering a fast, frequent, and reliable Route 8. Community members have fought for years to make Denny Way better. We thank them. Now, we’ll unlock the capacity of this important street to move more people. Irresistibly good bus service is finally coming to Route 8.

Waze and Apple Maps both immediately started routing drivers away from the Yale slip lane, but Google Maps still continues to sends drivers down it three days later. @transportation.seattle.gov Do you have any relationship with Google Maps to be able to notify them of the closure of the right turn?

Metro is also reducing the scheduled travel time from Dexter to Capitol Hill Station during evening rush hour. It's 14 minutes right now and 11 minutes in the new schedule. Shows a lot of confidence in the new bus lanes to make that change when buses are so wildly behind schedule today.

Funny how when Wilson proposes a sales tax increase for buses, suddenly it’s the end of the world. But when King County Council proposes a similarly sized sales tax increase for paving rural roads, it’s just crickets.
