I watched The Greatest Lover last night, which heavy caveats that it contains a LOT of stuff that just Does Not Fly anymore (I don’t even mean the whole eating tiger shit subplot), but 1) Chow Yun Fat is one of cinema’s greatest physical comedians, and 2) every Anita Mui costume is PERFECTION

Anita Mui in a scene from the 1988 Hong Kong gender-swapped My Fair Lady comedy The Greatest Lover. She is reclining in a largely pink boudoir while wearing a black sparkly chiffon outfit, with a stuffed toy leopard stole perched on her shoulder. She has a severe black bob hairstyle and is slapping a riding crop into her outstretched hand. If you are hoping that she slaps around Chow Yun Fat and several others with this riding crop boy does this film deliver.

Sometimes I check in on the adoption listings at the animal shelter my mum volunteers at and see a little guy being cosy on a blanket that I knitted 🥹

It was our university and the only path to the foreign world.
