There have been two occasions in my career where I had to go to war with teammates against mistaken understandings of probability. In both cases, it was because people expected large numbers of d6s to occasionally result in maximum damage. But the curves for 3d6 and 15d6 (e.g.) look like this:

Dwarf fortress update: finally made a dungeon because this dwarf stole something very valuable in front of 20 witnesses. A bit later I check in on the dungeon and discovered an unrelated dwarf has discovered her kink

I honestly think Astrobot is super helping my kiddo learn how to deal with failure and rejection in a very positive and safe environment. I used to have to help soothe him a bit after a lot of failures (and throwing of controller) and now he’s just, handling it or asking for help mostly calmly

I went to volunteer at the Food Bank Farm today here in Snohomish and our group harvested over 2400+ lbs of fresh peppers and tomatoes to be distributed via our 5 community food banks. It was such a lovely way to spend a beautiful summer morning with fellow humans who want to give back
