I went to volunteer at the Food Bank Farm today here in Snohomish and our group harvested over 2400+ lbs of fresh peppers and tomatoes to be distributed via our 5 community food banks. It was such a lovely way to spend a beautiful summer morning with fellow humans who want to give back

Wonderful to be back at Swarthmore for alumni weekend. It’s been a while. This place made me who I am today and I will be forever grateful to be part of this community.

Thinking back, it feels like a different Jane made Firewatch... a Jane who related more to one of the shitty teens at the lake. It's been interesting to reflect on one's work from 10 years ago, and finding more resonance with it now. "Oh that's what Henry was feeling. Well this sucks." lmao

If you are in Seattle for PAX West, you should allot some time to go to the Seattle Art Museum catch the Ai Wei Wei retrospective. It is an extraordinary and poignant exhibit and very well curated. Read every plaque if you do.
Forever bicycles - installation by Ai Wei Wei, part of a series of work that uses readymade materials in new ways, a meditation on what’s useful and what’s worthless to be discarded. He sees cultural heritage and memory also as another form of readymade. The bicycles here are Forever bicycles, which carry a ton of meaning on their own for Ai 81 - installation art by Ai Wei Wei, which is a mockup of the padded room Ai was held in confinement by the Chinese government for 81 days for his social and political commentary Forge - installation art by AI Wei Wei, made using the twisted rebar found in the ruins of a collapsed school due to shoddy construction in the devastating 2008 earthquake in which many many students died. Rebars aren’t supposed to fail like this. Only schools collapsed and the govt attempted to cover it up. Ai then collected via crowdsourcing on twitter the entire list of the students who perished.

Having lived in California drought land for over 15 years it still awes me that Seattle is the land of fountains like this. Just water shooting everywhere. *for JOY* (it’s 9000 gallons that’s recycled)

Rattlesnake Lake, WA is a beautiful spot to spend a June afternoon. There are really old tree stumps in the water that you can explore and climb onto if you paddle out, and as the lake dries up over the summer the waterscape changes a lot

I need to find out how to turn this stupid AI summary thing off on Google because even when I intellectually know it's horseshit half the time, i still end up reading it, but at least sometimes you get hilarity like:
Google's dumb AI says "As of January 2025, the average hourly rate for a $200,000 salary in the United States is $21.05. However, the range of hourly rates can vary widely, from $13.22 to $62.98."
