Margaret Hamilton is perhaps best known as the woman who coded Apollo 11 to the moon, but her legacy in IT is far greater than that. 90 is a good long age, but the world is nevertheless poorer without her.

I can’t help thinking that if I became a millionaire, I’d spend it on boring things like only travelling in the first class carriage on a train. Maybe getting a Ninja Foodi 8-in-1 that I saw yesterday.

It’s awful, humiliating grovelling and pandering. Also, I’ve read enough Sci-Fi to know that artificial super intelligence is A Bad Thing.

I honestly feel like someone fed the Vote Leave brexit micro messaging matrix into and LLM/image generation and created these hundred of baffling 'Remembrance' items of clothing. The image card does not do justice to the incredible hallucination of poppies, guns, soldiers, crosses and dogs

If you’re going to say “namely” you do in fact have to name things
Are French high school buildings dilapidated and rat-infested with collapsing ceilings?
Some are, namely in certain cities and low-income suburbs. Videos filmed by students and teachers have shown leaks, scurrying rats, holes in walls and ceilings, broken toilets and not enough chairs or tables, meaning teachers have to carry them from classroom to classroom. Some children said they had to learn in class while leaks were pouring into buckets, or move desks to avoid getting wet.
Many school classrooms experienced temperatures over 35C (95F) in the heatwaves oflast May and June.

Quite. Today’s Inside Politics newsletter by @stephenkb.bsky.social
As of this year, it is illegal to use a mask to hide your identity at a protest. It has been illegal for a lot longer than that to blockade critical infrastructure - like a port, say. — and it is corrosive to the foundations of liberal democracy to turn up in masks outside a newspaper's HQ because of a legitimate story you don't like.
Tackling this stuff is the bare minimum of what we should expect of any government. An administration that appears incapable of arresting the ringleaders or the attendees of such a protest is one that is visibly failing to do the basics of being a government. It feeds into a general narrative of malaise - that whether it is bike theft or responding to tricky geopolitical issues, Labour cannot govern. Taken together with Reform's difficulties, it is a gift for the Conservatives - if Kemi Badenoch can seize it.
