Cool news from CDOT: They're launching weather balloons (with CSU grad students) to collect added data for tactical insight (road treatments, equipment deployment, etc.) Data will get shared with NWS as well. Presumably, this'll help with years-long balloon launch holes. mailchi.mp/state/cdot-a...

The second significant tornado we documented yesterday impacted Streator, IL. We were going through town when it roped out so I did the best I could to capture it. On the last shot I was busy taking pictures of the utility pole damage and didn't notice the new tornado lurking in the background.

The Supreme Court has affirmed the President's authority to dismiss any and all members of congressional designated boards - even if the enabling legislation prohibits it. The only exception is members of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. 6 members of the Supreme Court are to blame for this.

June 15, 2023: As many were just going about their day, this #tornado formed and immediately began to carve an EF3 damage path through Perryton, TX. After impacting residential and downtown areas, the tornado collapsed a radio tower and exploded a fuel storage tank as I rushed to escape #WxSky

The Morrill Fire in Nebraska has killed 1 and consumed 549,000 acres with 0% containment. This is more than 10% of the entire area burned by U.S. wildfires in 2025, and makes it one of the 20 largest fires in U.S. history. Sunday forecast is grim: High Wind Warning, 25-35 mph winds, gusting to 50.
