About a month ago, early in the day, I was up on Raspberry Mountain for sunrise. I was concerned cloud cover would be too extensive further east and block most of the light, but boy was I wrong. As the sun rose above the horizon and below the cloud deck, the sky popped with color! #photography
Vibrant sunrise image looking directly towards the sun. The clouds and landscape are glowing orange and yellow, with cool hues of blue closer to the image point.

I’ve been at NWS Pueblo for about 5.5 years now, and I can’t recall a time that our area has had three back to back days with moderate risk EROs. Remnants of hurricane Polo looking to bring some impactful rains/flooding to our region this week. The rain is great, but all once, not so much. #cowx
Day two ERO with moderate risk across the San Juan Mountains.Day three ERO with moderate risk across much of south central and southeastern Colorado.Day four ERO with moderate risk across south central Colorado.

It’s Waterfall Wednesday! Continuing the waterfall journey from my trip to RMNP in early August, here is waterfall #3 for the trip, Chasm Falls along Old Fall River Road. An awesome little falls right along the road. #photography #waterfall

Small hike and photography adventure yesterday at Cheyenne Mountain State Park for the first day of astronomical Fall. Just like I had a favorite spot to go to at Lake Pueblo State Park, this spot is quickly becoming my favorite at Cheyenne Mountain State Park. #hike #photography

MRMS 24-hour hail swaths from yesterday. Absolutely wild to have multiple intense supercells with very large hail across the plains of Colorado in late September. We have verified reports of 3-4 inch hail in Kiowa, County! #cowx

It’s pretty uncommon for our area to get intense night time convection… even more so in September! Colorado weather being wild today

Absolute chunker hail today in SE Colorado. Honestly wild given it’s September! Give Colorado some moisture and shear and it’ll do silly things. Dang wish I was out there watching that supercell today!

Early morning views from Missouri Gulch. This gulch leads the trail up to the 14er, Mt. Belford, which stands tall on the left. This hike was steep up along the NW face of the mountain, but was a great adventure! 🏔️🥾 #hiking #mountain #landscape

Great video of the Granada, CO tornadoes. Love the still quietness with crickets chirping while two tornadoes spin in the field. I remember this day vividly while working at the office. Crazy day

First 14er hiked in a little over 5 years. Mt. Belford completed!🏔️ May have underestimated the steepness of this one though and kicked our butts a bit more than I was anticipating, oops. But a great hike and adventure nonetheless! #hiking #mountains

Oh no! I love Dolly Parton. What a sad day ☹️ RIP to this icon. If you haven’t heard it already, I highly recommend the song “Butterfly”. It’s a collab with her and Zach Brown Band and is such a beautiful song.

It’s Waterfall Wednesday (and World Photography Day!). To celebrate both, here’s waterfall number 2 from my most recent trip to Rocky Mountain National Park. This was Horseshoe Falls early in the morning. Gorgeous rolling and cascading waterfall. #waterfall #landscapephotography

Recently visited Rocky Mountain National Park, and while the vistas are always amazing, hazy views from smoke limited the landscape photography quality. This pushed me to have greater interest in some of the waterfalls in the park! Day one, hiked up to Adams Falls. #waterfall #landscapephotography

Toured part of the Aspen Acres burn area today for flash flooding potential, and as we thought, it will be highly prone to flash flooding. It was hard not to get emotional seeing all the devastation, but huge shoutout to the fire crews for doing what they can to save everything they can!

A rare moment of excitement in 2026 happened when this EF-3 tornado condensed near I-70. After driving the approximate circumference of the Earth over May and June to see basically nothing it felt like a small victory. 6.17.2026 - Effingham, Illinois
