Popular people get praise, attention, and verbal abuse. I get nothing. How is that fair?

I’m not clear how to describe the structure of this video? Almost has the vibe of an informercial or educational content you’d find on local cable in the 90s? Nevertheless, I feel like I don’t see this style very often on YouTube and I kinda love it. youtu.be/koDCabeh5kQ

“privatization doesn’t mean prices will go up,” they told us last week. but of course they will, and they’re starting to have to admit it. the reason why investors are so desperate to get our airports is precisely because they know they’ll be able to make monopoly profits.

werner herzog on AI filmmaking (from here www.indiewire.com/features/int...)
Q: A couple years ago at IDFA, I saw this movie "About a Hero," which is this partly Al-generated hybrid documentary that tries to recreate the atmosphere of your films.

A: The intention of this young filmmaker was never to remake any [of my films], but making something in the spirit. And I immediately said, "You will fail. It is such a stupid idea. It's phenomenally, abysmally stupid. I will not take part in it." He wanted me to explain things and have my voice in it.
I said, "You are alone. There's such a thing as free speech, which I respect. So go ahead and fail." And it is a failure, period.
It's so standardized that Al can step in because there's not real storytelling. It's mimicry of something that has happened before. And I welcome Al to replace all the idiots who are into nothing but repeating, repeating, repeating until it's ad nauseam.
When it's ad nauseam, please, please, please let Al step in and do the job.

My current view? We don’t need more skills, MCP servers, a better harness, hooks, … we need an agent jihad. Contravene the law of parsimony, encapsulation, or late-binding? A very-public very-awful fate much worse than death awaits. …and for good agents? seventy virgins await in clanker heaven.

Robert Caro says that power doesn't corrupt, it *reveals*. AI's still-hypothetical power already reveals which jobs decision makers don't respect or value, don't believe are worth human effort or time, and don't believe require actual human judgement. Today's example: teachers.

At its absolute core, Palantir’s entire business model is selling a ridiculously overpriced object-relational mapping (ORM) wrapper built to sit on top of open-source technology. If you strip away the sleek, dark-mode sci-fi interfaces, the stack is just a towering inferno of architectural debt.

Companies like Palantir exist to quarantine corporate incompetence behind expensive implementation and maintenance contracts. Palantir does nothing out of the box. Their shit does not work unless you have a team of Forward Deployed Engineers onsite 24/7 to continually paper over the cracks.

I really need people to understand that Palantir is not an engineering marvel; it is a multi-billion-dollar contractual containment layer wrapped around the world's ugliest legacy open source frankenstack. It's a shitty Snowflake for companies that don't know how to do data engineering.

having used claude extensively for the past couple of months, i think there is still a lot of value to understanding your code and steering it intentionally. the amount of incidental complexity claude accumulates otherwise (which mostly results in bugs that it can't ever fix reliably) is staggering.
