absolutely incredible shit
On his 58th birthday, Goessling met his birth mother in person and later connected with his biological father over the phone. When Goessling asked what he did for a living, his father mentioned he was a musician preparing to tour through St. Louis that summer.

"And I said, 'Are you Michael McDonald?" Goessling said. "And he said, 'Yeah, I'm afraid so."

If you need to explain to someone why the ‘Rogue AI’ framing is both wrong and harmful, actually blocking our view of what safety and responsibility requires in AI, this will help:

This hed is complete journalistic malpractice. Cool science story? Yes! Story that has anything to do with aliens? NO! Headline that misleads the reader because radio waves are the main way we look for intelligent aliens on other worlds? Exactly.

Hey you heard about this story coming out of Massachusetts? Apparently this group of self-selected individuals, who largely feel out of place in a world of great sorrow and despair - like, they're in this world, but not of it - formed a very intentional community as an example to the rest of the world, like a beacon that shines on a hill. And now they're tearing each other apart over seemingly inscrutable moral infractions! All this, in Massachusetts! Can you believe it?

(3) PERSON 2 with ponytail: You know, if we just turned off Greg’s LED underlighting– PERSON 4 with short hair: Absolutely not. PERSON 3: Dammit, Greg. Turns out, as with all stories of AI achievement, the solving of the millennium problem was accomplished through theft of someone's work and done in a way that isn't actually all that useful for humankind! www.npr.org/2026/09/22/n...

AI solved one of math's hardest problems. Humanity learned nothing (so far)
OpenAI beat humans to solving the Navier-Stokes problem, but mathematicians say the AI's solution isn't telling them much.

kudos to macklemore here for —right off the bat— the perspective and acknowledgment of who the real victims are
I'm not sure how to start this. So I'm going to speak from the heart and share the truth. Ed Sheeran and his team have made the decision to remove me from The Loop tour.

But before I get into it, I want to say something that should be obvious. In this moment I think it matters. I am not a victim. Ed Sheeran is not a victim. Pink is not a victim. We have careers, money, opportunities, safety and audiences around the world. Whatever consequences any of us face for what we say, we get to go home to our families.

The victims are the Palestinian people. The men, women and children who have been killed, starved, displaced and forced to live through unimaginable violence. More than 20,000 children have been killed in Gaza alone. People are being killed today, and people will be killed tomorrow. I want to make sure that as I tell this story, we don't lose sight of that.
