It's not "strikingly juvenile" and it's not a "personal broadside." It's hate speech. The Vice President is trying to get people to vote against a Democrat by implying that he's gay and/or a pedophile and/or a fetishist. Take it seriously. It is on a par with every other kind of hate speech.

I’m really excited for the future memory-holing of this moment by judges and the public when an new admin and AG are sworn in and they act like all is good now instead of realizing that maybe DOJ shouldn’t have been given the presumption of regularity in the first place.

And yet the mainstream media refuses to call it like it is. I'm sure tomorrow's headlines will reference Trump's "controversial remarks" or something like that rather than saying that he encouraged violence against the media.

Deal with Putin for Russia’s oil might soften the markets but Ukraine will pay the price

the reason “AI will create so much abundance we will have a utopian society” rhetoric falls so flat is that the people building it will never, ever share their bounty unless it is taken from them and we all know it

The only way forward is to hold them accoutable by every legal means. For once in this history of our country the right needs to face consequences and punishment. Otherwise this will only get worse b/c they know they can get away with it.

Congress has the power to do pretty much whatever it wants with the Supreme Court. It can expand the membership of the court, and it can punish it in several ways too. We simply need to fill that Congress with a Democratic majority that has the will to use that power.

the birthright citizenship question is, to me, the clearest evidence that originalism as practiced is just living constitutionalism for right-wing jurists. the originalist answer is the conventional one is the textual one, but that was basically unacceptable to much of the right.

Hypothetical: a president publicly discloses a private cell phone number to encourage millions to intimidate and disturb a legislator to pass a bill. It meets the criteria for state criminal harassment. Immune under Trump v. United States? Or official conduct that can overcome the presumption?

This is one of the most maddening thigns about this court: Not just the substantive rulings, but how they think about “irreperable harm.” If the Most Special Boy has to wait a month to do a thing he REALLY wants to, that’s irreperable harm. Actual large-scale human suffering? Meh.

When they get back in power, Democrats need to go all-in on higher education. We need a campaign of reinvestment in public universities across the country that makes the Morrill Land-Grant Act look like nothing by comparison *and* a GI Bill of Rights-style program of tuition grants.
