Like the lack of trans youth and younger adult care (because banning trans care for 18 year olds is an adult care ban, and a gateway to wider) literally kills trans people. A lot of us barely survived it. This is not an abstract issue or a goddamn bargaining chip.

You’re not going to believe this — no one does — but I have never used AI to write. Not a query or to brainstorm or to outline or to draft. At most, I have struggled to turn off the “powered by AI” grammar suggestions in some app. But…this is extremely skewed thinking.

One of the best things you can do as an adult is realize that you didn’t actually have to stop drawing, coloring, painting, playing with clay, doing whatever else you loved as a kid. Even if you’re bad at it. Maybe especially if you’re bad at it

It is quite revealing that the investments in AI in education contexts are talked about as "bets" and "gambling." This is correct, since there is no evidence that such investments will result in any improvement. Important to note that LEARNERS are the losers when there is no payoff.

When you elect conservatives, they will spend SO MUCH of their time in office indulging in their own weird sexual obsessions. You're electing bathroom monitors, book banners, genital police. Their obsession with sexual activity, usually involving children, is both creepy and endless.

As the Trump administration expands militarized immigration operations around the country, federal agents keep using tear gas near children. It’s worrying health experts. "Assume that children should have zero exposure to these chemicals.” My latest for @19thnews.org: 19thnews.org/2026/02/ice-...

Federal agents keep deploying tear gas near kids. We have no idea what it does to their health.
Exposure to chemical irritants can cause chest tightness, coughing and shortness of breath. For kids, there’s more potential for serious side effects.

Public comment on Dr Oz's proposed rules to ban gender-affirming care for youth closes 2/17 One rule bans hospital-based care, the other eliminates Medicaid/CHIP coverage Together they'd make care virtually unavailable nationwide, including in shield law states www.patreon.com/posts/149210...
COMMENTING GUIDE: Opposing Two Trump Regime Rules Banning Gender-Affirming Care, Deadline 2/17/26
Creator profile picture
Shouldn't Need to Be a Lawyer by Matthew Cortland
January 26

Edit

I. Bottom Line Up Front
The Trump Regime's Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has published two companion proposed rules designed to eliminate access to gender-affirming care for minors nationwide. Together, these rules would:

Ban hospitals from providing this care (CMS-3481-P) — regardless of how the care is paid for

Prohibit Medicaid and CHIP from covering this care (CMS-2451-P) — cutting off funding for lower-income families

You have the opportunity to help defend trans kids by submitting comments against these vile proposed rules. Because even if a state wanted to continue covering gender-affirming care through Medicaid, the hospital rule would prevent hospitals from providing it. The two rules use different regulatory mechanisms to accomplish the same policy goal: eliminating access to gender-affirming care for anyone under 18 (or under 19 for CHIP).

You should submit your comment to both dockets. The deadline is 5PM ET on February 17, 2026.

This question is weirdly hard, bc the starting place itself is a result of anti-trans propganda shaping the debate. Trans surgeries, for all ages, are vastly rarer than hormone therapy only, which is itself rarer than social adjustments alone. Youth trans surgeries are *incredibly* rare.

the reactionary playbook: start with a false premise, then reach a murderous conclusion through a leap of logic the center-left then gets stuck criticizing the leap of logic, implicitly accepting the false premise behind it - here, that minors are getting tons of trans surgeries
