A general run down of what translating/localizing a videogame is (in most big agencies) 1. Have strings with no context and ID with numbers. 2. Have a query sheet to ask question that can be ignored. 3. The strings are scrambled and not in order. 4. No visuals (images, videos or game)

I'm sure that I'm not the first to tell you this, but "matching your vision" is precisely what localization is about. Translation is also about trust. You can think about infamous examples of "bad localization", but I assure you there are other many examples of brilliant translations around.
