For the last 2 years I have been living in Boston with my roommate. The day after we signed to renew the lease on our shared apartment, they got accepted into Penn State and are now planning to move there. They are already looking for someone to take over our lease.
There's no way I will be able to stay in Boston.

This leaves me with a few options.

Option 1)
My roommate is planning to rent a 2
bedroom apartment in Pennsylvania, and would be fine with me living there with them for a year if l can find a job in the area. After a year I would be expected to move out since they want to live on their own without roommates. If this happens I could most likely get by on my own between a job, patreon supporters and commissions since rent is cheaper.
Patreon supporters

Option 2)
If I could find a high paying job in Ohio, I could move in with my grandmother in Cleveland.
This isn't really ideal since I would have to leave the house on days my dad visits her.
Option 3)
I'm being heavily pressured to move back in with my mom who would give me 3 months to find a job in Ohio. If I can't find a job within that time frame l'd likely be unhoused once the 3 months are up. Going back to that house would be bad for a number of reasons: less privacy, less ability to talk to people, and it's an extremely abusive environment.

Right now, I'm saving as much money as I can to prepare for this. Any help finding employment in Pennsylvania or Ohio would be greatly appreciated.
I would be totally ok living on my own as long as I can support myself financially. I need to save for covering the first/last months rent on a new apartment, moving costs, debt, monthly expenses, etc.
I'm really hoping in the next few years I can find stable long term housing instead of having to repeat this song and dance every year.

Until I moved to the UK, I spent my entire life in rural Georgia using a DSL line that maxed out at 700kbps on a good day This was one of the *better* connections available in my area, with some homes not passing 300kbps due to failing equipment that AT&T didn't want to maintain

A reader reached out yesterday and I've heard anecdotes like this before but I think it's really valuable to remind ourselves that access to the internet is iffy in places right here in the U.S. It's one reason @joshshepperd.bsky.social has said local public radio stations are so important rn!

I live in West Virginia. We do not have internet at our house, nor cellular signal. The mountains prevent it. I have to drive eleven miles to get cell signal. I read your article on my cell phone sitting in the parking lot of Tractor Supply. Our library's printer has been unavailable since January. They do not have the budget to replace it.
