A fragment of Irish rainforest near Moycullen, Galway. These places are so rare, so deeply enchanting, yet still so undervalued. What sort of nation cares so little about the natural side of its heritage?

Invented by Hans Beck, the ‘Father of Playmobil’, playmobil is a line of toys produced in Germany, since 1974. Playmobil toys are produced in themed series of sets as well as individual special figures and playsets. Activities extend beyond collecting and free-form play to include customisation, miniature wargaming and the creation of photo stories and stop motion films.
Mick Kehoe’s Playmobil Figures Collection form part of a large collection of Playmobil figures, playsets and related childhood stories, currently being photographed and researched by Lauren Kavanagh at the Museum of Childhood Ireland.

Time to share a #painting with you. "West Cork". My knees often aren’t happy in west Cork. People have to lift me out of couches. On the other hand when you cycle up those hills, or even their mountain passes, you tend to get glorious views. So I painted this, it’s my West Cork. #SpeirGorm #ArtYear
Landscape format in acrylics. Abstracted view of a coastal scene with a turquoise sea coming in from the left to lines of dark possibly rocks and light coloured ares that could be a strand. In the foreground are larger flat hard-edged painterly shapes of yellows and greys and blues which could well be fields and the like. Along the horizon is a line of deep blue mountains, and just in front of them at the right edge is a headland of bold orange and bold yellow. The sky is a painterly pale blue. I'm drinking tea, so here - have a goo at a painting. "Sunset over Clare Island" was painted 5 yrs ago, based on a time I was standing on a pillar on the southern shore of Clew Bay enjoying its many islands and looking all the way out to the fantastically shaped Clare Island. #SpeirGorm #painting
Landscape format in acrylics on canvas. Foreground is sea in two shades of lilac, lighter close to horizon along which the silhouetted shape in burgundy of Clare Island sits: a steep flatish-topped mountain at left end, and at right side a jagged tail stretching out to almost the right edge of the painting. Behind the sky is purple up to almost the top of the mountain then incomplete stripes of orange, purple and yellow. Top third has more orange to the right, then purple into lilac blobs before the pale blue at the top with a few purple daubs with smokey ochre edges. Signed bottom right: Liam Daly
