Google finally updated some of its satellite images of Gaza and my god, it's horrific. The entirety of Rafah has been demolished. The majority of Khan Younis is in ruins. Entire towns completely leveled and erased of the map.

Coal mine expansions and a surge in new data centres risk pushing New South Wales further from its emissions reduction targets, which the state's independent climate watchdog says it is already on course to miss.

The NSW Net Zero Commission (NZC) annual progress report found the state is falling increasingly further behind on reducing emissions.

According to government projections, NSW will fall between 10 and 20 million tonnes short of its 2030 emissions target, up from an estimated 7 million tonnes the year prior.

It comes as 20 applications to extend coal mines sit in the planning system, including the proposal to extend Hunter Valley Operations currently before the Independent Planning Commission (IPC).
