Yeah, he almost never says anything interesting. He's very media-trained. I'm not sure that last question was all that difficult anyway. The Royals don't have anything directly to do with it; I'd expect them to lobby against it but Sherman wouldn't do that himself, so he'd just defer to the process.

Now they're going to talk football. Guess we know which side 610's bread is buttered on. -_-

610 dropped the stream as someone was asking Sherman about the ballot measure for preventing the construction of new stadiums without a public vote before Sherman could answer.

Q: How has the TV deal been (since moving to MLB)? Sherman: I think we are planning to consolidate all local TV before negotiating the next deal for 2029. As for the current deal, we're the number 1 show in prime time.

Sherman cont.: Brewers have never won a World Series. Cleveland has the longest drought. Anyone can get into playoffs, but it's harder to win. Though any of those teams could win this year.

Q: You mentioned competitive balance, *lists teams that have advanced despite lower salaries* Is that an argument against spending being the most important thing? Sherman: I don't think so. They have a special sauce that we're trying to get the recipe for.

Again: No method exists for projecting the economic impacts of sports stadiums. What we do know is that no stadium has ever generated enough new tax revenue to pay for itself. There's a reason you have to hire a paid consultant to come of with these numbers: they're bogus. @gpropheter.bsky.social:

But researcher Geoffrey Propheter, a professor at the University of Colorado-Denver who studies stadium financing, cast doubt on the district looping in businesses that could be miles away from the stadium and calls for incentives that align more closely with the footprint of the stadium itself. Some economists regularly question the touted economic impact of pricey, publicly-supported stadium deals around the country “There’s no way you could draw something this large and with a straight face say, ‘I’m only targeting people who are here because of the stadium,’” he said. “Now, if that was true, your TIF would be only the stadium footprint. Even then, that’s not precise.”

Excuse me, not Dinosaurs, but Princess of Mars. And the worst part is that they keep calling out the thing that they're doing. End of first episode, Pike holds up the damn book. Third episode Ortegas starts out complaining about her hangover. They're being WAY too cute.

Hokius (Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter) @hokius.fromthehawkseye.com · 4h

It does kind of feel like they are leaning too hard into gimmicks. We had dinosaurs, then horror, and then The Hangover. We will have to see, I guess.

Wade Davis, Kelvin Herrera, and Greg Holland were all perfect in the playoffs those two years, at least in terms of blown saves and losses. People need to recognize how remarkable that was.

The Padres are an excellent example of what Picollo was saying about no one else can find HDH again, either. Adrian Morejon and Mason Miller were two of the best relievers in baseball this year, both top 5 by just about any measure. And now they've each taken a loss in this series.

A good fresh Star Trek take on those fake isekai title jokes

A tumblr screenshot showing a post and two reblog responses, reading:
1. "star trek would be the ideal fictional universe to get trapped in because you'd explain your situation and they'd be like yeah makes sense. no further questions. fortunately we can use the mysterious warp signature emitting from this system's icy moon to counterface with the solar radiation and slingshot you back home"
2. "I'm from a universe where your world is all a work of fiction." Benjamin Sisko, nodding. "That happened to me once."

When Sale came in I assumed the Braves had worked out that he could go on his throw day without imperiling a Game 2 NLDS start on full rest. Because if not, it would've been insane to have him protect a four-run lead against the bottom of a lineup that had scored nine runs total in three games

Chris Sale will want the ball in Game 2. The Braves shouldn’t give it to him (Gift Article)

Sometimes, teams need to protect players from themselves. This is one of those times.

More batters hit .300 in 2026 (7) than did in 1968 (6). I feel like there's a lot of people would be stunned by that. It certainly wasn't "but launch angle" back then, and it's not really now, either.
