l've been a SA advocate for decades:
NEVER go to campus resources for a SA. Call a rape care hotline/program (off campus), get a SA advocate (they're free), go to a SART hospital for care (and evidence collection if you choose).
They activate the police. Schools have NO business in this process and will minimize and bury it. It's a criminal matter, not an administrative matter.
Period. No exceptions.

That's Not How It Works! That's Not How Any Of This Works!
Alt: A gif of part of an esurance ad. An older woman stands up from her chair and says, in almost a disbelieving tone, “That's Not How It Works! That's Not How Any Of This Works!” to her friend, named Beatrice. Beatrice—labeled an “Offline Over-Sharer”—just told her friend, (the woman who stood up), in person, that she “unfriends” her. The ad is a riff on the idea of Facebook but instead, someone (in this case an older woman) is actually acting out the online actions (e.g. sharing photos by printing them out and hanging the on the wall).

Emotional regulation requires energy!! When you're physically tired, emotional regulation is simply physiologically harder to achieve.

So if you've used all your physical spoons and you start crying because you dropped a pen, remember it's because your cells literally don't have enough ATP to coordinate the neurological processes that control your emotions. Give yourself grace and rest and probably a snack.

As we recall the trauma caused by COVID in 2020, we should not forget COVID continues to harm. Many still suffer from Long COVID, people who mask are often harassed, and we haven’t scaled clean air infrastructure. If we truly acknowledge past harms, we should be working to create a better future.

You can become disabled or homeless in an instant. It just takes one accident or illness to change your life forever. It’s not a moral failing. You can’t just “try harder”. People need support, compassion and to have their basic needs met. That’s how you ensure survival.

Happy 36th anniversary of the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act. To this day, disabled people still can't get married, and our rights are actively being challenged over and over. True disability inclusion happens when we're equals to our able-bodied peers.

COVID prevention is collective action. Long COVID can only occur after a COVID infection, so preventing infection and reinfection matters. Cleaner indoor air, access to high-quality respirators, staying home when sick, and reliable testing help protect everyone. #PublicHealth #COVID19 #LongCOVID

How to Apply For—and Receive—Your SSDI
Long COVID makes it tricky. Know the rules.
Dr. Zeest Khan
Jun 23, 2026

I lost my job because of long COVID
So I was glad that I had taken my mentor’s advice and purchased disability insurance in residency. I thought that was enough to protect me from the rainy day. But when the time came, it was really hard to prove it was raining. I had to fight to receive the payments I was owed.

You might be in the same boat. Paying for a disability policy doesn’t mean you’ll get your payout easily, and it’s an especially tricky process when you have a condition like long COVID. Because our symptoms fluctuate, and because we don’t have reliable easy-to-measure biomarkers, disability claims for people with long COVID are often challenged or denied.

But you can get the payments you deserve. The first step is understanding the system and process you’re engaging with.
