US law doesn't provide for an attorney in civil law cases. Immigration is officially a matter of civil, not criminal, law, in large part to make it easier to deport folks. This includes children.

Every year I go to the graveyard to visit my dead relatives and decorate their graves. And every year I see so many baby and kid tombstones, and so few in my lifetime. Diptheria, pertussis, measles, and coughs that there was no doctor or money for a doctor to treat.
