This is me-thing, but the sight of the RNLI being abused whilst the government stands by and does nothing, makes me miss my father very much. Michael loved boats and the sea, detested fascists and was a proper Labour person - he'd be both informed and *furious* about what's happening.

Yes, i used to work in a department that gave bursaries to 6th formers. Most of their parents worked. What it showed is that tax payers fund businesses that refuse to pay a fair wage, not a bunch of benefit scroungers.

Any lives lost due to this closure should be laid firmly at the feet of the far-right agitators who caused this. The way in which anti-asylum activists are putting more and more people at risk should be a wake up call that it is time to genuinely combat them, rather than pandering to their ideology.

The RNLI has said the abuse of volunteers in Portsmouth has forced it to close the lifeboat station there and stop operating since September 10. Nearby stations have been providing cover to the area instead. One of the UK's largest coastal cities without a lifeboat because of the far-right.
