Behold my beautiful award. It comes with an optional support dong, which is pretty awesome.

A glass trophy with a gold support post. It probably goes in back but like I'm gonna deny my trophy the chance to show off. Engraved text reads:

The 2026 Rando Award
for
Social justice in the streets,
Monster fucking in the sheets

Strange Love

We've just gotten word that the first of our winners' trophies has landed safe and sound, with the rest close behind. Phew! If you were one of our 2026 winners, please let us know when your trophy arrives on your doorstep! We'd love to celebrate with you all over again.

Yes, it's a very specific award. But we like it that way.

today, my third novel Meet Me at the Crossroads is a paperback. It's a novel I wrote to process a lot of grief I carried for a long time and to think deeply about faith and adventures and friendship. You can get it from my friends at Magers & Quinn: www.magersandquinn.com/product/Meet...

the cover of Meet Me at the Crossroads. It's an illustration by Owen Gent where the silhouette of a young woman is approaching an open door with an arm outstretched and another arm from the doorway is reaching out to her

With all our winners' trophies now having landed on doorsteps, it's time for the Randos crew to take a breather. We'll keep quietly reading and falling in love with books for the next couple months, then kick this all off again in late 2025!

What are the Randos? Is this a serious award? Are there actual trophies or just pretty Canva mockups? Who are you clowns? Yes, it's (semi) serious. Yes, there are real trophies. Yes, we kind of are clowns. But also, we love books. All your answers, here: www.christopher-ruz.com/blog/randosa...

Announcing the 2023 Rando Awards — Christopher Ruz

This year, I’m launching an all-new genre fiction award. You’ve heard of the Hugos. You know the Nebs and the Locus Awards. But you’ve never heard of the Randos.

Friends, it's time. Our panel of nine passionate Randos spent all of 2024 reading the very best books they could get their grubby hands on. Now comes the challenging part: winnowing down our shortlists, and then picking our deserving winners. But first: the categories! (cont)
