Since everyone’s arguing about speed cameras, let’s keep a couple facts in mind: 1) Research show that camera enforcement is much more popular than the media implies – in suburbs as well as cities. Lesson: Don’t conflate a few angry car owners with “public opinion.” (cont'd)

Automated Traffic Enforcement Is More Popular Than You Think
Cameras that ticket drivers who run red lights and speed are effective and widely popular with city residents. So why are they banned in so many places?

A FUTURE GAME SHOW: “Sorry, Arthur, your answer was correct, but Paul shouted his opinion louder, so he gets the point. And, an extra bonus point goes to Sue, as she was offended by your answer.”
A drawing of a television game show set with three walls behind the host and three contestants behind their respective podiums. One wall is comprised of question squares, another reads: “Facts Don’t Matter”, and the last is blank. The host addresses one of the contestants:

Jardine to step down at next election
The Edinburgh West MP, Christine Jardine, has announced that she will step away from politics at the next general election. Prime Minister Andy Burnham denied in an interview with STV this week that there will be an election anytime soon, confirming that the next general election will be in 2029. Despite that, Ms Jardine said that she feels it would be unfair to the local party that they could be in a situation where they don't have a candidate, if or when a snap election is called. Ms Jardine, who won the seat back from the SNP in 2017 and has a majority of 16,470, said that it had been a challenging few weeks and a difficult decision, but that she felt it was the best thing to do for the party.

The biggest failure of Edinburgh Council Transport Committee - easily as bad as the Braid Road debacle - was to back down from siting a bus gate to prevent traffic from accessing Corstorphine High Street. Walked along to the library then had a seat and coffee in the kirkyard. Traffic is non stop.

Sure. Brexit meant we huffed out of our agreements on managing the flow of asylum seekers. The boats symbolise “taking back control” by going it alone. But it’s only a “crisis” because politicians and media choose to blame immigrants for their own failures. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

Tom Watson’s move to Palantir is the latest sign of how far the rot has spread in UK politics. Like Blair, Cameron, Clegg, Mandelson, hired to open govt networks to companies and corporate capture of the state. They sell political capital built with public money. What do we get in return?

When a court instructs Epstein files be released, and they are not, and when a court instructs media be allowed into White House, but they are not, then your courts are irrelevant. You have no law, not for those in power. When a court says "Accept this vote" and it is not, what are you gonna do?

Why is the Church not doing anything to call out these Reform thugs and their supporters, who are hiding behind the banner of Christianity.? It is blatantly obvious that people who are happy to see other human beings drown in front of them are far from Christian, so why are they allowing it.?

So, if I understand Nigel Farage's argument correctly it is: "Everyone I trusted and elevated into a position of responsibility is constantly doing crimes that benefit me but of which I somehow have no knowledge. I am a man with the character, judgement, and intelligence to run the country." Ok.

A novel thought for Edinburgh Council / Edinburgh Police ( decide between yourselves 🙄). Instead of expecting drivers to adhere to the laws of the road, or 'educating' them in pointless PR exercises, fine them, really hefty fines. For speeding, for running lights, parking on pavements. Give it a go.
