“It was raining and the basketball was on, and I was downstairs making dinner, and I heard the piano go… this most fucking beautiful, wistful, slow, almost like blues… and it was the sound of the rain on the roof and this basketball match going and these notes, so much space between the notes…”

New "final" album by The Fall was announced yesterday. Now it seems there's more to the story. Apparently Cog Sinister, the label for the new album "Post Script," has now passed under the control of Gonzo Multimedia, a label owned and run by an elected councillor for the far-right Reform UK party.
hello & good morning,
i hope this finds you well.
herewith i would like to encourage you NOT to feature/review/air/mention this release.
luckily, a superb journalist from the uk got back quickly. see below.
there are more links/proofs/confirmations in case needed.
thank you. this is not a joke, it is serious.
no matter how much we enjoy the fall.
there are lots of other good/better new releases we can feature/listen to.
many thanks & all my best,
ed

Hey Ed

Thanks for this, which we were looking forward to covering at ...; however, as it seems that Cog Sinister has now passed under the control of Gonzo Multimedia, we cannot support any releases from a label owned and run by an elected councillor for the far-right Reform UK party (somewhat similar to the AfD in Germany):

https://www.suffolk.gov.uk/council-and-democracy/councillors-and-elected-representatives/find-your-councillor/robin-baxter-ayling

I hope you understand our reasons.

All the best

If you have a physical music collection, just go fishing through it once in a while. Have a big ol' rummage, get all your CDs, tapes, vinyl, whatever, out on the floor and just look through em. Bang a few on, read some liner notes, it's just magic, honestly.

It's funny, and quite telling, how the people I follow (mostly from the US and UK) are among the finest music connosseurs in the world, while people randomly appearing in my Discover feed (mostly Italians) post the most mainstream songs and celebrate them as unforgettable masterpieces.

Re: the World Cup. The level of the games is a bit lower than we see in national leagues and international tournaments in Europe. The talent is too diluted with 48 teams playing. However, most of the games are entertaining, people are having a good time and that's the only thing that matters.
