Give it time... But, in all seriousness, the unregulated, and illegal private e-scooters and electric dirt bikes are definitely a problem. This city seems allergic to enforcement (unless, of course, you're an unhoused person).

Cyclists - get your bike details onto BikeRegister! I recently found an abandoned bike in Carr Rd, Walthamstow - badly repainted grey frame, make is Giant (other brand names on various components, owner will be able to quote). Frame number isn't on BikeRegister so it's now at Edmonton police stn.

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

Just a reminder that people don’t always realize they were raped in the immediate aftermath. It can take hours, days, months, and even years to realize you were raped, and it doesn’t make it any less true. There are many kinds of responses, including fawning and trying to appease your rapist

Poster advertising a “North American Day of Protest Against Data Centres” on Saturday, October 3, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Alberta Provincial Legislature in Edmonton. The poster uses bold black, red and cream typography and an illustration of a large data centre rising above a rural landscape, with its foundations depicted as red, tree-like roots spreading across the land. Text emphasizes land, water, people and communities, and says “Big Tech takes more than power. It takes our tomorrow.” The event promises music, speakers and solidarity.

Yes, that has always been my understanding, hence my skepticism. I want to know the specifics of how this is supposed to work. Because it sounds like the "recycling" will be sorted, packaging will supposedly be shipped back to the producer where they're now magically able to recycle it.

Hey #yegbike just a reminder about the detour on the NW of the High Level Bridge. Several cyclists seemed very confused about where to go on my commute because there is zero wayfinding signage about where the detour is. So I figured I'd share this detour map that Paths for People shared earlier.
Satellite map view of Constable Ezio Faraone Park and the High Level Bridge. There is a legend in the upper left-hand corner with a red line indicating shared path closed and a green line indicating shared path open. The typical shared use path and pedestrian sidewalk straight from the 97 Ave crosswalk to the northwest entrance of the shared use path on the High Level is closed. The detour is west along 97 Ave to connect onto the shared use path just slightly west of 110 St and then make a slight right to continue west on the shared use path avoiding the cobbled promenade and then left to continue on the shared use path towards the northwest entrance of the High Level Bridge. This path is indicated on the map with a green line.

Let's be real, vehicle manufacturers and O&G (i.e huge corporations, billionaires, & rampant capitalism) have overwhelmingly contributed to our built environment, not everyday folks. The idea of "if you build it, they will come" applies to many things. Why can't it apply to active infrastructure?

Fuck rebel news and Levant. This is absolutely reprehensible. Absolutely no one is being forced to wear orange shirts at work or school. They just love making shit up. www.cbc.ca/news/indigen...
Screenshot of a section of the CBC Indigenous article that reads: "The stated purpose of the National Truth and Reconciliation Day is noble – to honour residential school survivors and their communities by recognizing the lasting impacts of Canada's residential school system, so Canadians can better understand its legacy as part of our ongoing journey toward truth, healing, and reconciliation," Levant quoted what was said in the video.

In the video, the Rebel News reporter goes on to say "But five years later, Canadians are still being told that there are some truths they're not allowed to question."

Levant added in the statement that Rebel News staff are "dedicated to freedom of expression including the right to seek the truth" and "these orange shirts are a response for people who are forced to wear orange shirts at school or at work, as part of an 'official' political narrative."

"No Canadians should be compelled to support any political view, including Orange Shirt Day’s politics."

In the video promoting the shirts, the Rebel News reporter says "what's more than likely underneath the apple orchard soil at the Kamloops site is probably an old septic plot."

Webstad pointed to the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation, which has so far documented more than 4,000 deaths of Indigenous children in Canada's residential school system.
