@nondriver.bsky.social’s book When Driving Is Not An Option was a huge perspective-shifter for me. I highly recommend it to anyone. Her op-ed ⬇️ highlights law changes not on the table in New Zealand (yet) but her points are well worth thinking about now. E-bikes are life changing for many ppl!

excited that my elementary school is trying a "RideshareOnline" pilot & I was thrilled to see that it included walking and bike bus options. However, we live too far away for either of these, and so what I'm looping for is another family to split pickups with for after-school activities...

Anna Zivarts is a visually impaired parent and author of When Driving Is Not an Option: Steering Away from Car Dependency (Island/Princeton University Press, 2024). She is also the founder and executive director of the Nondrivers Alliance, and earned undergraduate and master’s degrees from Stanford University. Zivarts sits on the boards of the League of American Bicyclists and the Pacific Northwest Transportation Consortium, and serves as a member of TRB’s Implications of Transportation Choices and Access on Public Health committee.

Still closed, still no heads-up signage, plus they're resurfacing the road to the west of this trailhead AND the workers told me this morning that the closure will extend to the area behind Bison Lodge as of tomorrow. At least they let me pass through the barricade onto the gravel trail this a.m.

I'm hearing some concerns up about implementing "no turn on red" as a default policy in Seattle, so it's worth remembering that allowing turns on red only saves "1-5 seconds" on average for 🚗 drivers, meanwhile it increases 🚶🏼 crashes 60% and 🚴🏾‍♀️ crashes 100%.
