Thanks, I love it
This is a simply bonkers argument. I don’t think anyone buying a car thinks they’re buying the only car in the world, nor does someone buying Resident Evil Requiem think clicking the “confirm purchase” button means there’s only one Resident Evil Requiem in existence and they snagged it. Owning something doesn’t get its meaning from ensuring no one else owns it. In the world of digital purchases, this was an idea that undergirded the NFT craze, in which regular people fired back by simply copy-pasting ugly apes of their own; while everyone agreed this made the original ape (even more) worthless, it didn’t mean that first idiot didn’t still own an ape. Sony’s philosophical “reasonable consumer” here comes off seeming anything but reasonable, someone who hasn’t yet learned that the kindergarten classroom has more than one red beanbag chair at storytime.

Four people have died at the hands of ICE over the past eight days. Jesus Manuel Arenas-Silva died on July 13 while being transferred between detention facilities in Georgia. Here is an archived version of the official ICE release, which is surely riddled with lies: archive.is/nkREK
A poster that reads:

Stop Them Before They Kill Again
On January 7, 2026, ICE agent Jonathan Ross shot and killed Renee Good in Minneapolis. This is just one in a long series of killings carried out by ICE. Targeting immigrants is just their cover story—the true purpose of ICE is to serve as a secret police force in order to impose a totalitarian regime.

There is nothing more despicable than a person who is willing to kidnap and even murder his neighbors in return for a bribe. Mercenaries who are prepared to serve tyranny represent the most dangerous element in society. Those who hire themselves out to ICE are traitors to humanity.

By standing up to ICE, we open up the path to a better future, a world in which no one has to live in fear of militarized bounty hunters. No politician or political party will do this for us. Stop them before they kill again:

What’s really getting me about this and all the ai food I’ve seen, is how comfortable we’ve gotten with false advertisement. The idea of generating AI ads without considering the need to replicate the look of the food advertised should be a huge tell of how comfortable we’ve become with it.

Subject: Thank you for getting me fired!

Hi Marisa,
I just wanted to let you know something very funny, I shared your "Hating Al is good, actually" article in my company Slack; and I'm now in the midst of a disciplinary process that is trying to strongarm me into accepting a mandate to use Al.
Thank you! I've needed to leave this place for some time now and this is just the push I needed! It was an excellent article and my god is it refreshing and relieving to know it's not just me; I have been drowning in slop-slob.
Cheers,

This bit, where AI use gets compared to drugs/drinking and/or motorcycle riding, is I think one of the most evocative analogies for these tools I've come across. The motorcycle one in particular is gonna stick with me.
Given the issues with his new book, I asked if the risk of introducing inaccuracies that you might not catch was really worth the perceived benefits.

“I don’t do drugs, and I don’t drink, but I presume that that’s kind of the question an addict asks when they’re having one drink too many and they know they are,” Rosenbaum said. “I’ve never been in a place where I thought the tech that I was using was both intoxicating and dangerous. And I wrote the book specifically to raise that concern, so if I end up being the poster child of not being aware of the guardrails, so be it.”

At one point, when discussing the relative risks and rewards of using AI, Rosenbaum noted that he rides a bicycle but wouldn’t ride a motorcycle. “I know a motorcycle gets me places faster. I think it’s dangerous and I might die. And that’s why I don’t own a motorcycle,” he said.

Rosenbaum made it clear that using AI was the relatively safe “bicycle” option in this analogy. I responded that the supercharged efficiency and catastrophic risk inherent in using AI made it feel a bit more like the motorcycle. Rosenbaum said “that might be fair” and thanked me for “sharpening” his analogy.

I then asked the obvious question: Are you going to keep riding the motorcycle?

“Can I get back to you on that?” he said.

Finally, Ronald Reagan can rest in peace, knowing that children will no longer have to learn that some white people were the bad guys in that whole slavery thing.
The millions of admirers of the TV presentation of ‘Roots’ didn’t include Ronald Reagan, who said, ‘Very frankly, I thought the bias of all the good people being one color and all the bad people being another was rather destructive.’ He added that he was impressed by the huge audience the series attained, but ‘I didn’t know there was anyone who could stay home eight nights in a row.’
