It says a lot about our current times of polycrisis that confirmation of our NATO allies in Europe and Russia being engaged in a hybrid conflict, just feels like another day instead of earth shattering news. Though to be fair, it is incredibly worrying.

When you hear “suspected arson,” it’s easy to think, “that wildfire has nothing to do with climate change.”  While severe drought, low snowpack, and heat didn't ignite this fire—they are why it’s so big, destructive, and fast.

Can't get numb to this: The United States is stuck in a war it started, cannot end, and may further escalate to no avail, having dismantled its diplomatic apparatus, depleted its military stockpile, and destroyed its credibility. A historic strategic mistake harming millions in many different ways.

Yeah this tracks. Vietnam was a tragedy for the US due to the massive casualties, but it wasn’t a huge blow geopolitically. Ceding so much to and emboldening Iran is much, much more consequential because Iran is consequential
