Fine and perceptive report out of MIT on AI in education: MIT wants to rebuild education around the things AI can't replace. That means oral exams, semester portfolios, in-person project work, and a required social component in every subject.

Besides scientific work we know this from journalism, multimedia expertise, the entertainment industry and even the success of distasteful stuff such as authoritarianism … its the story that counts.. in words of Daniel Kahneman… “No one ever made a decision because of a number. They need a story”

Our paper unpacking "fitness" is out doi.org/10.1093/gene.... How to define fitness depends on what question you ask. Selection acts on organismal vital rates, longer-term outcomes make sense for genetic lineages, models link them. "Invasion fitness" = speed, but sometimes probability matters more.

Why there are so many definitions of fitness in models
Abstract. Evolutionary “fitness” is operationalized in many different ways in models. Its role is to quantify that which is favored by natural selection. G
