Politicians like @eddavey.libdems.org.uk and other people who think that oil & gas from the #NorthSea #Jackdaw and Shetland #Rosebank fields will substitute for imported fossil hydrocarbons, or are necessary during the energy transition are sorely mistaken.

Sorry for shouting but... THE ENTIRE POINT OF CCS IS TO ENABLE MORE FOSSIL FUEL USE. That it captures jack shit doesn't matter. All fossil fuel interests need to do is claim that the emissions their extraction produces will be removed from the atmosphere. At some point. Somehow.

Nope, it’s the weeks of hot, dry weather made more severe by global heating due to fossil fuel burning that has increased the risk of wildfires. The landscape is so dry that any ignition can start a fire that becomes uncontrollable. Fields of crops and grasses are not “rewilded” but have burned
