The opera's fictional lead character is said to have a background as an F-16 pilot, an aircraft developed by General Dynamics. After extensive criticism, Washington National Opera changed the webpage to list General Dynamics as a 'season sponsor', and also rewrote the opera's promotional text.[8] Despite this, General Dynamics were thanked alongside other sponsors on stage before the premiere performance at the Kennedy Center.

The economy we're in now is 100% a result of government/big business backlash to what happened between March 2020 and June 2021. Workers got a little more freedom and secured marginal wage growth and they responded with an all out war on the cost of living. This chart shows the impact of that war:

This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

Minneapolis federal court received almost as many habeas petitions – asking judges to order the release of those unlawfully detained – in January as in the entire period from 2016 to 2024. More important, the federal judges in Minnesota are granting the petitions and people are coming home. But then ICE started transferring people out of state as quickly as possible, often within eight hours, thwarting the local habeas efforts.
