We are hiring! TWO new researcher roles, one with me (and my wonderful colleagues) in the UK government team. Take a look, shout if you have any questions and please do send this on to anyone you think would be interested! www.instituteforgovernment.org.uk/about-us/car...

If we're discussing who is and isn't British I would like to say that this kind of bloodthirsty anti-humanitarianism does not fit my model of British values.

This is absolutely correct. Blaming the Russians is externalising the problem.

Genuinely puzzling that an administration that put such furious energy into denying the existence of secret Russian help in winning an election, should then call openly for Russian help to lower diesel prices ahead of some midterm elections....

for some reason I just recalled this spectacularly inept piece of work
Based on these results, it's easy to make the case there's no longer a viable electoral reason for the Labour Party to exist. The Greens are easily winning over metropolitan left wingers (Hampstead bloc), while Reform are sweeping up their working class heartlands (Humberside).

Republican US Rep Brian Fitzgerald tweets that he will introduce a bill to block purchases of Russian oil. Don Bacon (R-Neb) tweets that he will co-sponsor. Obviously this won’t happen during campaigning recess (and Trump could veto anyway) but interesting push-back on Trump.

Russia's ally Iran has so thoroughly achieved what it set out to do against the USA that it has forced the USA to make a massive concession to Russia in its fight against Ukraine. I'm struggling to process how embarrassing this is. It's almost incomprehensible. Imagine if Biden, etc etc etc...

Just saw someone say that if Starmer was still PM, Labour would have lost this by-election and while I don’t doubt the analysis of his personal popularity, I do feel like they’ve misunderstood the conditions necessary for a by-election to be held in his former seat.
