Screenshot of a Bluesky post by Hannah from April 2, 2025: “You know how in fictional dystopias coffee is always a rare, precious commodity? Like characters are always talking about how a can of coffee costs more than they make in a month or saying that they haven’t tasted real coffee in years? Anyway, just thinking about that for no reason”

A bit of lightness. The BannerDepot 2000 Poetry Maker is so fun. It's an archive of banner ads from the 1990s and early 2000s, and you can make poems from the ads. Amazing work by Richard Lewei Huang and Yufeng Zhao. BannerDepot 2000: banner-depot-2000.net
Screenshot of an intentionally minimalist 1990s style website called BannerDepot 2000 that shows a search and filter interface with banner ads on the left column that you can choose from, and then banner ads arranged as a poem in the center. The banner add poem in construction reads "Greetings Earthlings / are you lonely? / Do you love your Mother? // EARTH NOT ALL THAT YOU HOPED FOR? / Behold / VISIT A PLANET YOU'VE NEVER SEEN. / You see? It's simple..."

I hadn't seen this before. This is pretty remarkable. Earth and Moon in one NASA photo. ht @astrokatie.com
Earth and Moon from DSCOVR NASA's Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC) aboard the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) satellite captured this unique view of the Moon as it moved in front of the sunlit side of Earth last month. This view shows the fully illuminated “dark side” of the moon that is never visible from Earth. Ian Regan processed this version of the image to account for the Moon's motion. NASA / NOAA / Ian Regan

One of the very best from Clickhole
From Clickhole's "Incredible! We Asked These Astronauts What It’s Like To Be In Space," Barry Wilmore: You never know true beauty until you see Earth from space, or true terror until you hear someone knocking on the space station door from outside. You look through the porthole and see an astronaut, but all your crew is inside and accounted for. You use the comm to ask who it is and he says he’s Ramirez returning from a repair mission, but Ramirez is sitting right next to you in the command module and he’s just as confused as you are. When you tell the guy this over the radio he starts banging on the door louder and harder, begging you to let him in, saying he’s the real Ramirez. Meanwhile, the Ramirez inside with you is pleading to keep the airlock shut. It really puts life on Earth into perspective.

It doesn't even matter at this point. Of course there are no "boots on the ground" in Iran but even if there were, I don't care anymore. I've been wary of foreign intervention my whole life but at this point, as long as He control's immigration, I don't care what happens.
