One key theme will be about biological mechanisms of aging as common drivers of chronic disease both in the brain and in the rest of the body, simultaneously. What are the gaps and opportunities to bring this #geroscience concept into clinical practice?

A reminder for new folks. BlueSky does not have an algorithm to raise posts of interest. It is incumbent upon you to do so via reposting. Liking things only provides feedback to the poster but does not promote the post. The signal to noise ratio is taking a brief beating, so great to help curate.

Lead the reader. Give them a sense right from the start of where you are going, and lead them there step by step. Aims pages that do this are a pleasure to read, and usually describe exciting science. Because doing this requires the writer to understand their own path very well! /end

Be cautious with jargon. This needs to be understandable to smart scientists who are not in your exact area. If jargon is scientifically necessary, make sure the meaning is clear from context and/or give definitions or examples. E.g. building on the X and Y elements of Jargon approach by adding Z.

One tip for readability is to practice describing your proposal out loud, and pay attention to how you do that. Record it to play it back. What order do you say things in? How do you phrase things? If you have to cut it from 3 min to 2 min, what do you keep?

Show, don't say. If you have strong prelim data, describe it. If you have experience, show what you did. If your team is outstanding, show why. If it's important enough to say on the aims page, it's crucial to show.

Get to the point. Give the reader enough to understand the problem, gap, and plan, and nothing extraneous. "Background is too long", "Too didactic", "I didn't know where they were going" are all common problems. It takes a lot of work to distill your field down to just what they need to know.

What's the important problem? What is the gap preventing it from getting better? How are you filling that gap to make progress on the problem? Sentence 1, 2, and 3. And para 1, 2, and 3.
